Machu Picchu

As promised from Throwback Thursday (and part because I LOVE reminiscing on past adventures!), I thought I'd show some of my favorite pictures from my time in magnificent Machu Picchu. :)

I loved capturing the site during the different times of the day and showing how the sun hits differently over this incredible world wonder. From sitting down and taking it all in to wandering around and exploring the site to climbing up Machu Picchu mountain, this day I will never forget.

Love,

Reima

PS. What is the one world wonder/world site you have always wanted to see?

  1. Reima I just love this post! I am teaching the theme "Ancient Worlds" this trimester and we talked about many of the wonders of the worlds - Machu Picchu being one of them. My girls loved learning about this place and loved that it was in the mountains and nature. We decided to do a field trip there - haha just kidding - if only that were possible!!!! We can dream big though right? Anyways I know my girls would love to see these pictures, so if you don't mind I think I will share this with them next week. I just know they'll love it.

  2. What amazing pictures! My husband and I were just talking about how we'd love to go one day. This must have been such an awesome experience. It doesn't look like a lot of people were there - is that because it was early in the day?

    1. Hi Amy! Thank you. :) You guys have to go! I have no words to describe this amazing place. When you get there and see it for yourself, it's almost like you are at a loss of words and you just stare at it. And you think the whole entire time, how did they create this magnificent empire? GO! GO! GO!

Although it looks like there wasn't anyone there, there were 5,000 people in the park! That's their limit. At that time, in the morning, most hurry to find a spot to watch the sunrise and some got the tickets that allowed them to climbed the mountain you see behind Machu Picchu. I just got lucky to get a lot of shots without people in them! But I did get quite a few with them. It's all about the timing. :) Definitely look it up! February is completely closed down but you can go any other month! I went at the end of June/beginning of July, when they were celebrating the 100 year anniversary of its discovery. I thought it was a perfect time to go!
